  3.                     Chapter 9. The Blind man.
  4.  
  5. The healing of the man born blind must be understood in the light
  6. of Chapters 7 and 8. Signs and wonders are God's order for the end
  7. of this age but the "Pharisees" will refuse "The Light" and abide
  8. in darkness.  At the close of the Feast of Tabernacles which is
  9. symbolic of the end of this age, Jesus said, "I am the Light of the
  10. World." (John 8:12) Now He demonstrated it by healing the man born
  11. blind.  Notice how often Jesus used the natural to reveal the
  12. spiritual.  In John 2 the natural temple and the spiritual temple,
  13. in John 3 the wind and the Holy Spirit, in John 4 natural water and
  14. spiritual water, in John 6 natural bread and the Bread of Life.

  16. The sin of an individual or of his parents cannot be said to always
  17. be the cause of a sickness or infirmity.
  18. Note:  Job 1-2.  Job was righteous yet was stricken.
  19.       Philippians 2:25-30.  Epaphroditus sick nigh unto death for
  20.                             the Gospel.
  21.       Dan. 8:27.  Daniel sick because of a vision.
  22.       James 5:15.  "If he has committed sins..."

  24. There is both physical healing and spiritual healing in Christ.
  25. The spittle of the Living Lord, who had said, "I am the Light of
  26. the World," mixed with the dust of the earth was used to anoint the
  27. blind eyes.  The same Lord, who took the dust of the earth and
  28. fashioned the perfect eyes of Adam (Gen. 2:7), could easily make
  29. these whole.
  30. Note how the man washed in the pool of Siloam from whence the water
  31. for the Feast of Tabernacles had just been drawn the day before by
  32. the priest with the golden pitcher.  The priest, the pitcher, and
  33. the water are a type of Jesus as the Baptizer in the holy Ghost.
  34. Now this miracle by the waters of the pool of Siloam (which means
  35. "sent") shows that Jesus, the One Sent from God, is our Healer, by
  36. the power of the Holy Ghost.
